This weekend was wet. Really wet. It rained all day Saturday, and much of the racing afternoon was cancelled - Tudor qualifying first, then the Super Trofeo race after the !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . And Sunday the weather teased us with dry but overcast conditions before forming rivers and lakes on track again just past the halfway point.

This was my first time to Watkins Glen, and I’m hooked - it’s a really amazing spectator venue, and I’m not at all surprised that it’s the !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . Despite the weather, I had an absolute blast. Standing at the bottom of turn 1 and watching them thunder up the hill was arguably one of the most visceral spectating sensations I’ve had. What are your favorites spots to watch from?

Stands at the top of the esses are impressive, inner loop is great, anywhere in the boot is fantastic. Love this place.

They showed that baby with the Falken Tire fire suit on the broadcast. How cute.

I know a lot of people don’t like rain racing but it does make for some very interesting strategies. Many seek alternate lines and the actual racing is as good or better than dry where every driver stays on the same line, just slower. It sure made for some surprise endings in at least 2 of the classes. Great pics Steven.

Thanks! I find rain racing much more exciting in person when you can park yourself at a certain corner and watch everyone squirm through.

Man, if you think its fan friendly now, you would have loved it before the ALMS/Grand Am merger. Tickets were $50 max for the weekend, you could drive your car wherever inside the track and there were even more teams and vendors who would interact with the typical fan. I miss those days..... /lived in/around Watkins Glen my whole life.
